Roger Stennett. “In Three Minds”
Born into a theatrical family in Wales and educated in Cambridge where he read History under Simon Schama, Roger began his writing life as a poet in the 1960’s.
After University he worked giving away public money to the Arts as Director of the UK’s largest Regional Association, before becoming a freelance writer on Jan 1st 1984, a suitably Orwellian date.
Since his first play was professionally produced in London in 1978 he has written widely for Theatre, Radio Drama, TV, Film and Animation, as well as teaching creative writing and screenwriting to postgraduate level in several universities.
He is the only living being to have written both for Sooty and The Royal Shakespeare Company and is currently developing several TV drama proposals, some centred on mental health, past and present.
He also trained to be a Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist and is now in private practice at The Chiron Centre in Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol where he sees 16+ clients each week on the two days he is there.
He also is a Clinical & Educational Supervisor and a Counsellor for NHS Hospital doctors who are referred to him through The Severn Deanery.
A former international athlete, and current Aikido Black belt and instructor, physical activity and energy has always been a big part of his life. For more than 30 years he has also been a student of Buddhism, always keen to find ‘the middle way’. |
